Tauranga based Clarity Distilling Co. recently emerged on the scene and has achieved a remarkable feat by winning a highly esteemed Double Gold at the prestigious and globally renowned San Francisco World Spirits Competition. All in just six weeks since its inception, managing to enter just in time for their launch in March. The Double Gold award was given to their first batch of Dry Gin, which is achieved when all judges on the panel award it a gold medal. The highest award, Platinum, was only not within their reach as new entrants are not eligible.
Clarity Distilling Co.'s gin is meticulously crafted using separate distillation methods for each botanical. While the exact details of their process remain undisclosed, they ensure transparency in their product. Their range currently includes the award-winning Clarity Dry Gin and Clarity 2023 Gin, as well as a vodka, but gin is their main focus. The Dry Gin is a classic and balanced spirit with distinct flavours and earthy notes, while the 2023 Gin is a sweeter option with citrus flavours.
Co-founders George White and Stephanie Downer, who possess backgrounds in business management and childcare, have been working together since 2015 and decided to turn their shared love for gin into a business venture. Winning the Double Gold award has exceeded their expectations and boosted their confidence. Their goal now is to get their products distributed widely into liquor stores and bars. The recognition from winning at the spirits competition has already given them a significant boost in achieving this and will certainly continue to do so.
