Twisting the 19th-century nickname and living by the motto "Be Kind, Have Fun, Make Gin", Mothers Ruined is a distillery started by two Wellington mums with sustainability at the heart of its operation.
The pillar at the centre of Mothers Ruined's sustainability is their bottle. Made from 94% recycled paperboard, with a carbon footprint six times lower than a glass bottle, it is at the forefront of packaging sustainability. They are New Zealand's first spirit to come in a paper bottle.
Helen and Jo take their environmentally conscious practices even further by supporting Trees That Count, a charity helping plant millions of native trees across Aotearoa.
